Monday June 7th has become the bloodiest day for the multinational coalition forces in Afghanistan. Twelve foreign soldiers were killed in separate attacks, which is the heaviest toll NATO suffered in a single day this year.
Five Americans and two Australians died in Monday blasts in southern Afghanistan, a French officer was killed in a missile strike in the northeastern province of Kapisa, and in another incident an American police trainer and a Nepalese security guard were the victims of suicide bombers in the city of Kandahar. Afghan civilians are getting increasingly concerned over the worsening security situation in the country.
According to people dwelling in the Gilmend province, both coalition forces and the Taliban use residents’ homes as artillery positions. The ongoing destabilization has already caused the resignation of Afghan intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh and Interior Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar.
