"The Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty will come back into effect if our partners understand that the key to the treaty is in their hands, not in ours," Dmitry Rogozin said at his first Russia-NATO Council meeting of envoys
Mr. Rogozin concluded that although the current Russia-NATO cooperation leaves much to be desired, the Kremlin is aware that the dialogue with the world’s biggest political and military alliance must involve all the concerned organizations to make the cooperation really effective
"We have suspended our participation in this one-sided and unfair treaty and we hope that our [NATO] partners ratify the adapted version of this agreement," Dmitry Rogozin told a news conference on Sunday after arriving at NATO headquarters in Brussels
An adapted Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty should also cover signatory states' naval forces, Russia's new ambassador to NATO said on Thursday. "I am positive that we should move toward signing a new treaty that would take the navy component into account," Dmitry Rogozin told a news conference
The Russian envoy pledged to integrate the Emergencies Ministry into a NATO-Russia emergencies reaction program currently being developed. Rogozin also promised to turn his attention to issue of patent infringement, citing the widespread abuse of the world-famous Russian 'Kalashnikov' brand of automatic weapons as a particular problem
